CAGNEY heads to Hollywood!

Well, it’s been just three and a half months since the cast of Cagney took our final bows at the Westside Theatre in New York. It was such a fun, satisfying run, bringing the story of “Hollywood’s tough guy in tap shoes” to smiling audiences over 500 times.

And now, we are SO excited to bring this great story to the place where Cagney’s story exploded in vivid black & white – HOLLYWOOD!! Yes, for four weeks in October, we are bringing Cagney to the El Portal Theatre in Los Angeles!

Our limited engagement in L.A. will bring back the complete original New York cast, with Robert Creighton as James Cagney, Jeremy BentonDanette HoldenJosh WaldenEllen (Zolezzi) Wright and me (!!) as movie mogul Jack L. Warner (plus our great covers Tim FalterKaren Hyland and Freddie Kimmel!).

The show features original music by Robert Creighton and Christopher McGovern (plus those great George M. Cohan classics), book by Peter Colley, with choreography by Tony nominee Josh Bergasse, all under the direction of Bill Castellino.

Previews begin October 5th, our official opening is October 8th, and we run through October 29th. If you are in Southern California (or nearby), I hope you can join us! And if you have friends in the Los Angeles area who might be interested in Cagney, please spread the word!

Schedule and ticket information for our L.A. run can be found at the El Portal Theatre website. I wish I could offer you a special deal, but unfortunately there are none – with such a limited run, our producers anticipate brisk ticket sales (so don’t delay!).
