After our critically acclaimed, sold-out run in the spring of 2015 at the York Theatre, Cagney the Musical returns to New York for an open-ended Off-Broadway run!! We are SO excited to have the entire cast and creative team back for this new adventure, at the Westside Theatre (W. 43rd Street, just past Ninth Ave.) With Bobby Creighton (who conceived and developed the show with composer Chris McGovern and book writer Peter Colley) as James Cagney, I return to my role as movie visionary Jack Warner, Cagney’s greatest booster and his fiercest nemesis.
Creighton (Drood, Anyting Goes, Chicago, The Lion King) and I are joined on stage by Jeremy Benton (42nd Street, Countess of Storyville), Danette Holden (Annie, Shrek), Josh Walden (Ragtime, A Chorus Line, La Cage, 42nd Street) and Ellen Zolezzi (Suessical). We are led by director Bill Castellino (premiers of The Great Divorce, Grumpy Old Men and Storyville at the York), choreographer Joshua Bergasse (On the Town, Gigi, Smash) and musical director Matt Perri (Cinderella). Previews begin on March 16th 2016, and we open on April 3rd. The story is compelling, the music is fantastic and the dancing is off the hook! I hope you’ll be able to join us!
