I am thrilled to welcome you back to Searching for Tevye at Don’t Tell Mama, for two encore performances. As we had hoped, we will perform on February 10th and 11th, 2022 (Thursday and Friday evenings) at 7pm. Same great cabaret room, same great band.
In addition, I’m super excited to announce that our performance on Friday February 11th will be livestreamed right to your living room! We know that some of you are still not ready to come to public events, so we wanted to give you an opportunity to come to the show without leaving home. The livestream option will allow you to watch the show as it happens, as well as any time after that, through the following weekend (through Feb. 20th).
This has continued to be an emotional time. I’ve felt the pain of shows closing suddenly, and performers being sidelined after preparing for months, and then the joy of understudies and swings leaping onto the stage to keep shows open. I’ve been to the theatre, most recently seeing Sondheim’s Assassins at New York Classic Stage – a breath-taking, visceral production. The constant is that we all need each other to push through this craziness. And I am so excited to be able to share my personal story with all of you, once again.
BroadwayWorld’s Cabaret Editor Stephen Mosher reviewed the show in November at Don’t Tell Mama, saying:
“…absolutely one of the most charming shows of this cabaret season…
Sabath has the most valuable tool in the trade of cabaret: complete and total authenticity…
Sabath succeeded at not only holding my attention but holding my rapt attention…
With a voice that fits, glove-like, either Sondheim, Porter, Bricusse or Croce, Sabath remains a constant pleasure throughout his show…”

Searching for Tevye is a cabaret-style show that answers the question: How did a nerdy theatre kid from Brighton ditch a booming Wall Street career to pursue his dream of becoming a Broadway actor? And what does all that have to do with a fictional dairyman named Tevye?
Directed by Tanya Moberly (Bistro Award Winner), with Musical Director Ben Kiley (assistant Music Director of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish) on piano, Steve Count on bass and Sabina Torosjan on violin, Searching for Tevye features music spanning folk rock, American Songbook, and musical theatre classics from Sondheim to – of course – Fiddler on the Roof (in English or Yiddish… who knows? Come see for yourself).
Searching for Tevye returns to Don’t Tell Mama for just two performances:
