The show is a wacky misinterpretation of the classic love\u00a0triangle of Julius Caesar, Cleopatra and Marc Antony. I played the lovelorn Caesar, who <i>apparently<\/i> was quite the song-and-dance man! The show also featured Bret Shuford as Antony, Erika Amato as Cleopatra, as well as Rebecca Riker, Beth Cheryl Tarnow and Ryan Williams.<\/p>\n<p>The show ran through mid-June at the Samuel Beckett Theatre at Theatre Row (42nd and\u00a0Ninth Avenue). Our official opening night was May 18th, and we got some nice notices in the press, including <a title=\"Associated Press\" href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/music-hijinks-musical-sphinx-winx-014059429.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Associated Press<\/a>, <a title=\"Theatermania Review\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theatermania.com\/new-york\/reviews\/05-2011\/the-sphinx-winx_37240.html\" target=\"_blank\">Theatermania<\/a> and <a title=\"NYTheatre.com Review\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytheatre.com\/Review\/leslie-bramm-2011-5-13-the-sphinx-winx\" target=\"_blank\">NYTheatre.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Personal historical note: Theatre Row, including the Samuel Beckett Theatre, is now a beautifully renovated Off-Broadway complex of five jewel-box theatres, but my long-time friends may remember that twelve years earlier, the moldy, dilapidated Samuel Beckett was home to my very first New York stage appearance in a musical called <i>Lyz!<\/i>, an update of the Lysistrata story, set in present-day Manhattan.
