The 2024 Carbonell Awards – South Florida’s own version of the Tony’s – were presented on November 11th at the Lauderhill Center for the Performing Arts in Ft. Lauderdale. \u201cNearly 90 productions at 29 different theatres were evaluated by a diverse group of more than 40 experienced judges representing all three participating counties (Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach<\/a>). In mid-September, the Carbonell Awards announced 120 finalists from 13 different theaters during last season,\u201d says Carbonell Board President Gary Schweikhart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bruce was honored the be awarded the Carbonell for Outstanding performance by an actor in a lead male role in a musical, for his performance as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof<\/em> at the Wick Theatre in January and February, 2024. Fiddler<\/em> had a total of four nominations, including Best Musical, Best Director (Norb Joerder), and Outstanding performance by an actor in a lead female role (Patti Gardner).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
